Airport Assistance Services

Rapid Response Assistance

At ATH, we provide you with dedicated fast-track support, which includes passage through priority security and customs channels, which in turn will get you out of the large crowds. Also, you are assigned a personal agent who has your documents in order, who will guide you through the right Schengen or non-Schengen channel for you, and also will keep an eye out for any delays that may impact your schedule. Also, we see this as very helpful in the pre-dawn island flight breaks and at night time for our long-haul departures, which tend to see the largest queues.

Greet and Meet

At Athens Airport, our AirportAssist team will welcome you as soon as you exit the aircraft, jet bridge or arrive in the terminal. At our locations, we have representatives who will walk you through the entire process. We’ll help you out at the airport, with that orientation, immigration, claim your bags and get you to your transport, lounge or the right gate. For check-in and departure, we will handle your check-in, validate your boarding pass and have you at the right counters and gates with no confusion.

Lounge Access

ATH has several lounges across Schengen, non-Schengen and the Satellite Terminal - and AirportAssist organises access to the one closest to your gate. Your agent takes you to a comfortable space with Wi-Fi, refreshments, work areas and quiet seating, which also serves to have you leave the lounge close to your gate. We put forward this service for travellers who require comfort before long-haul or multi-city connections.

VIP Airport Assistance

For travellers who value privacy and a stress-free airport experience, AirportAssist offers personalised service for an exclusive airport experience at ATH. We offer personal check-in assistance, rapid access through security and customs and will handle the transition from the airport to your car at the exit with our chauffeur or hotel staff. Every step is handled for you, offering a polished and efficient passage through the terminal.

Family & Special Needs Support

Families and passengers with reduced mobility often appreciate extra guidance at ATH, which can involve moderate walking distances. AirportAssist, which has put in place stroller and wheelchair services, we also see to it that your way through the airport via the elevators and family routes goes very smoothly, and we help you out in finding baby rooms, kids' areas or quiet seating. We put forward this service for our elderly guests and those travelling with young children.

Baggage & Porter Help

At Athens Airport, we have AirportAssist, which provides porter services for travellers with many bags, heavy equipment or fragile items. Our porters collect your luggage from the belt, handle trolleys, and see to it that you get to your taxi, bus or to recheck counters which in turn is very helpful when you are on separate tickets or dealing with out of the ordinary sized luggage.

Transit Assistance

For passengers connecting through ATH - especially between long-haul flights and island hops - AirportAssist provides end-to-end transit help. Your agent meets you at your arrival gate, guides you through passport control where needed, checks your onward gate, and leads you through the correct hall or underground passage to the Satellite Terminal. If delays occur, they assist with rebooking and make sure your journey stays on track.

Layover & Connection Tips

Know the Terminal Zones

ATH’s Main Terminal is split into Hall A (non-Schengen) and Hall B (Schengen). If your flights switch halls, allow time for passport control. This single detail helps avoid last-minute sprints between two different control points.

Minimum Connection Time Planning

For Schengen-Schengen flights, 1-1.5 hours is generally enough. For Schengen-non-Schengen or if you need to re-check bags, keep at least 2-3 hours. Summer crowds may require even more, especially for domestic island connections.

Smart Security Strategy

Lines swell in the morning waves, so fast-track makes a major difference. If you don’t have access, avoid peak minutes by clearing security early and relaxing in the departures area instead of staying landside.

Lounge Matching

Choose lounges that fit your gate zone. For Schengen departures, go to Area B lounges; non-Schengen flights go to Area A or the Satellite Terminal ones. Choose the wrong one, and you may find yourself far from your gate.

Visa and Travel Regulations

In most cases, travellers don’t need a visa, but some nationalities will require a Schengen visa or an ATV.

Sleeping Options

If you need proper rest, Sofitel Athens Airport is directly opposite the terminal. Inside the airport, there are quieter seating pockets near certain gates, though no formal nap pods - carry a travel pillow for comfort.

Wi-Fi & SIM Cards

The free airport Wi-Fi works reliably throughout the terminal. For longer stays, SIM kiosks in the arrivals area offer Greek eSIMs and physical SIMs, making it easy to stay connected during your trip.

Rechecking Bags on Separate Tickets

Travellers heading from international flights to domestic or low-cost carriers must collect bags, exit arrivals and re-check upstairs. Allow a full buffer for this - the process includes passport control and another trip through security.

Monitoring Gate Changes

ATH frequently updates gate assignments, especially for island routes. Keep an eye on screens or ask your AirportAssist agent to track all changes for you so you don’t miss boarding calls.

Family-Friendly Corners

There are children’s play zones and family bathrooms in both halls. Lounges also offer calmer spaces where kids can rest, making the airport more manageable during long waits.
